In Northern Ireland, an equality watchdog is launching legal proceedings against a Christian bakery who refused to make a cake for an equality campaign earlier this year.
Daniel McArthur, the general manager for Ashes Bakery, says he’s surprised the Equality Commission is pursuing legal options, given the size of his family-owned bakery.
“It feels like a David-and-Goliath battle,” McArthur said. “They have massive resources at their disposal. … We’re continuing to hold to the stand we took originally because we believe it’s biblical, we believe it’s what God wants us to do.”
